Davidson Marking System Tissue Dyes
Original marking system for laboratory applications requiring orientation of tissue specimens!
- The dyes provide orientation and precise marking of the perimeter of tissue specimens.
- The dyes can be used on either fresh or fixed tissue and are also appropriate when preparing for a frozen section.
- The dyes allow grouping of several small specimens in a single cassette by staining each with a different color.
Method of Use:
- Shake tissue dye well before and throughout each use.
- Carefully blot tissue to remove excess moisture.
- Apply dye directly to desired portion to tissue using an applicator stick or brush. Cotton tipped applicators or brushes are effective for larger areas, while a wooden stick can be used for more specific, detailed application.
- Do not apply excess dye as this will prolong drying time.
- Recap bottle promptly to prevent evaporation.
- Allow dye to dry completely (1-2 minutes). Once dry, the dye is permanently bonded to the tissue.
- No mordant is necessary, but if desired, acetic acid is appropriate and effective.
- Once dry, the processing of the tissue can be performed.

Caution: Never use these dyes directly on living patients. Only use on excised tissue as the dyes are permanent and not sterile.
